UPDATE: iMovie 11 is out today, priced at £45. It’ll be included free with any new Mac.
A new iMovie 11 has been launched alongside the new iPhoto as part of Apple’s iLife 11 package for OS X. It’s a major update for the company’s consumer video editing suite, and it comes with a hilarious new feature: an easy way to make your own movie trailer worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster.
While we’re loving new audio editing control via a waveform dragging window below each clip, the feature that’s going to capture most people’s imagination is the ability to autogenerate your own movie trailers. An Apple developer demonstrated how using sample clips and the names of your friends and trip, it pulls together a dramatic trailer worthy of gracing the bit before the Orange Wednesday ad down the local Odeon.
We’ll have all the details on iMovie features in a round up feature in just a short while, but stay tuned for more from Apple’s Mac event over on the homepage.
