That Steve Jobs Android slam from Apple’s earnings call. Well, Google has swung into action with…a tweet. Andy Rubin, Google’s Android chief has put his dormant Twitter account into action to send his first tweet. So what brutal putdown did he offer to Steve Jobs, master of communication? ??Well to the untrained eye, a load of gibberish…

Rubin’s tweet read: “The definition of open: ‘mkdir android ; cd android ; repo init -u git://android.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git ; repo sync ; make.’” Translated into human, that’s the code you need to use Android in its open source form. It’s a clever geeky repost but won’t get the attention Steve Jobs’ volley of verbal punches will pick up.

The response from Rubin sums up the gulf in terms of PR approach between Google and Apple. While Google pleases developers with lots of juicy geeky announcements at Google I/O, Steve Jobs presides over regular tech rallies that dominate the news agenda. Android is ‘open’ but explaining it with a chunk of Java code won’t get to the mass of consumers confused by too many Android phones and versions of the OS.

Google should just ignore it. Sounds very much like sour grapes on Jobs part, worried about how Android have come on in such a short time, besides how can you believe anything Apple says after the iphone 4 fiasco, they ignored the fact that it was unfit for use until it was shoved in there face and then they gave everyone a free bumper Wow.

Rubin’s response to my compadre is appropriate as Steve is just good for marketing his products. Google should just do its work and ignore Steve’s ramp as he is just making some intrigues again just in time for Apple TV’s launch.

Google have given his stupid comments all the attention it deserves which is nothing at all Andy Rubin on the other hand using humour IMO has said FO you moron and quite rightly so.

You see the point is Steve has to keep reinforcing his reality distortion field and feed his iFans with his version of the truth to keep them happy and ignorant. I mean really 100 versions of Android i don't think so anyone care to prove that one right? then he had to count all iOS devices to make sure he can show a higher number then Android's smart phone only sales these both make him seem like he is taking desperate measures so he must be worried by the rise of Android.

I don't think anyone denies the first iPhone was class leading and way ahead of the competition but that was a long time ago now so whilst a 3.5″ screen was great back then its average at best now. The same goes for the touchscreen experience as so many of the other OS's and manufacturers have worked hard and caught up if not surpassed what Apple originally achieved and Apple well they just haven't moved on as much or as fast the next iPhone is really going to have to do something different and be special IMO or it will be no longer anywhere near class leading and warrant being an expensive device.

Google on the other hand give their OS to the developers and manufacturers and let the products do the talking and seeing by how much growth and sales they are achieving that seems to be working out great for them doesn't it? Really fragmentation isn't anywhere near the problem some like to think as if it was users just wouldn't be buying these devices at all never mind in the huge numbers they are. The thing is most of us like choices and we don't all want or need the same things from our devices and the thing with Apple is you have to like what they give you and allow you to do so if you do then their products are the best for you but that doesn't make them the best for everyone and never will. Now thats the real difference between iOS and Android with Apple you have hardly any choice and with Android you have lots of choices so of course more users can find something they like and want from Android as the options are so much greater. But even then it doesn't mean they make the best devices for everyone either as no one does or ever will and that's why we will always have various OS's and manufacturers offering different solutions to us.
