Windows Phone 7 is here, in case you missed the rather massive memo yesterday, and since you’re going to be seeing a lot of new smartphones running it, we’ll be breaking it down for you in a Windows Phone 7 review. Before we do, we’re off to a Microsoft event today to learn more about it, and how the new Windows Phone Marketplace works. Got any questions you’d like us to relay to Redmond execs today? Drop’em here!

Really, what’s struck us most about Windows Phone 7 so far is the simplicity Microsoft is going for. It’s a world away from the ugly text boxes of Windows Mobile, and instead aiming to be as easy to pick up and use as an iPhone – only you get your choice of hardware, not just Apple’s. But we still have some questions – namely, how on earth do you trigger the damn battery indicator – and we’re betting you do too.

If you want us to ask Microsoft about something Windows Phone 7 flavoured, or test something out for you, drop us a line here in the comments below. Stay tuned for our full Windows Phone 7 review coming soon!

What are the plans for Flash, does it support it? I heard it doesn't

    • bensillis

You got it Vinnie, we'll ask.

I heard there is no multitasking. This cannot be! I want to develop an application that needs at least 2 threads.

    • bensillis

There is not third party multitasking, yes. We'll let you know how that translates in day to day use in the review.

I'm wondering if it's possible to customize the home screen to display more icons or to shrink the size of the standard boxes.

I've just noticed that all of the current devices seem to show a 2×4 layout on the homescreen and I was wondering if it's possible to customize and get say 3×5 to fit more icons on the home screen so they're immediately visible.

Sure thing Martin, we'll let you know how the homescreen works.

Hi Martin, that was exactly my question when I first saw Windows Phone 7, but no, a few months ago the answer was no, and I'm pretty sure that still stands. You can stick more things on it, by pinning people, games, music and apps and the like, but they just mean you've got to scroll further down. I also asked about pinning more than one thing on to a tile, so it's like a live folder, but that's not possible either. Hope this answers your question!

Ah thanks, I didn't think it was possible given the entire interface seems to be designed with this consistent look and feel. Still, the navigation does look pretty sweet and I'm still getting one (probably an Omnia) anyway :) .
