After Steve Ballmer said earlier in the week that the product he was most excited about was Kinect, rather than Windows Phone 7, we asked you which one you were more excited about, and which one you thought would be more successful Despite the lack of confidence in Ballmer, he was expecting Kinect to really revolutionise gaming. We wondered about this, given that Windows Phone 7 is just around the corner, and put it to you, our readers.

You agreed with Ballmer, with 54 per cent of you saying that Kinect will be bigger than Windows Phone 7, in comparison to the 30 per cent of voters who said that Windows Phone 7 will make a bigger splash. We were suprised by this, and expected the reults to be more closely matched, but it seems that Microsoft’s past failures in the mobile space are clouding the hype that it has built around Windows Phone 7. 13 per cent had no confidence in Microsoft full stop, and seemed to have no faith in the company, saying that both products will flop.

Given this surprise result, we’ll be checking in closely with reader comments next week, and getting your opinion on Windows Phone 7: whether you want one, whether it is on the same playing field as Android and Apple, and what you see is it biggest successes and failures, so be sure to check in and tell us what you think. Windows Phone 7 launches on Monday.

Both are good products, it's just that Kinect is more revolutionary. WP7 has some nice enhancements over iOS and Android like live tiles, hubs, & xbox/zune/office integration, but WP7 is more an evolutionary step than a revolutionary step for smartphones.

Kinect means logging into your Xbox just by stepping in front of it, launching videos or games just by talking to your Xbox, and playing games with the family without ever having to pick up a controller. Kinect is incredible.

Reality is nothing like what you describe thou..   here in 2011, Kinect is a novelty gadget that never delivered anything but a handful of shovelware games.
