Google TV kit is starting to emerge. We saw the frankly mad Sony Google TV remote yesterday (the buttons! the buttons!) and now the Google TV Logitech Revue box has slipped past our eyeballs. It’s an interesting little package which should give Steve Jobs something to ponder when it comes to the new Apple TV and its continuing “hobby” status…
The Logitech Revue Google TV box is up for pre-order in the US now. It’ll cost American TV fans $299 ($179 subsidised if they’re on the Dish Network) and is shipping at the end of October. For your cash you get the Revue Google TV box, a keyboard with a touchpad and directional pad, an HDMI cable, one IR remote and some batteries to power it.
You can also grab a Logitech Revue version of the diNovo Mini controller, a much neater looking package than the hefty Sony remote or the keyboard, for $129.99
Logitech has also slipped out a Logitech TV webcam to bring video calling to your Google TV. It’s got a Carl Zeiss autofocus lens and dual mics. It’ll use the same Logitech Vid HD app as Logitech’s current HD webcams. Logitech also pulled the covers of a Media Player app for the Revue Google TV box which will grab video from connected hard drives and DLNA-enabled devices.
Not sure what the hell Google TV is all about. Try our Google TV explanation and take a look at the Sony Internet TV which we recently spotted in the flesh.
What do you think of the Logitech Revue? Are you excited about Google TV’s eventual arrival? Or are you firmly in the Apple TV camp or keeping your eye on Boxee?
