Sky HD has snapped up exclusive right to Mad Men. That’s bad news for fans of the tale of adulterous ad men and the legion of Christina Hendricks appreciators who’ve been used to getting their Mad Men fix for free on BBC iPlayer. Mad Men will join the entirety of the HBO output (including Martin Scorcese’s new show Boardwalk Empire) on a new Sky HD channel, Sky Atlantic HD. Read on to discover what else Sky HD has grabbed to lure you in…

From 2011, you’ll need to spring for a Sky HD subscription to watch Mad Men and future series of Entourage and Big Love will only be shown on Sky Atlantic HD. The channel has also snaffled up the HBO back catalogue so unless you’ve sprung for the box sets you’ll have to head there for The Wire and Six Feet Under as well as David Simon’s new show Treme.

I don't give my money to Mr R Murdoch. I'll find another way to see it.

This makes me so angry! My husband and I have watched Mad Men from day one and absolutely love it. It must be one of the few quality programmes that the BBC is responsible for these days and now we are expected to pay yet more money to Sky HD, which we are not the slightest bit interested in, in order to watch the next series. Hell will freeze over before we pay any more money to Sky and we will be looking for an alternative way to catch our favourite programme. I would rather wait until the series end and buy it on DVD but that doesn't stop us feeling disappointed and absolutely furious.
