Halo: Reach has pulled in $200m in European and American sales in the first 24 hours of its launch, according to Microsoft. That’s more than Halo 3 by a long shot, which pulled in $170m, but far less than Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare, which earned $310m in North America and the UK in its first 24 hours.

Sony last night announced that the 3.50 software update to the PS3 would be arriving on 21 September. The PS3 software update will bring 3D Blu-ray playback to the PS3, and news of it broke back in January at CES. This brings the date forward from the date we were given at IFA, where Sony said we should expect the PS3 update in October. The new date was announced in Japan though, so although there’s a good chance this could be the global date for 3D Blu-ray playback, we might still have to wait until October.

The HTC Desire HD will be arriving for free on T-Mobile, on a two year, £40 per month contract. This rankles a little since Jon French, HTC Executive Director, said yesterday that we would be seeing a “maximum” of £35 per month contracts on a two year basis for the HTC Desire HD at its launch yesterday.
