Deciding what the best Android phone is can be a nightmare. Google has already been criticised for the fragmentation of the Android market, which has quickly become confusing to consumers. In reaction, Google has launched the Google phone gallery, which displays all Android phones in one place.
The Google phone gallery will display all Android phones available, and thankfully, you can navigate by country, so you won’t have to be working out any US to UK HTC device name translations.
The Google phone gallery also has a compare function, which means you can look at up to three Android phones side by side, and look at which operators offer the devices, what version of Android they run, the skins they have, levels of connectivity, and other key features like battery life and hardware.
The benefit of the site is that consumers have a one stop shop for working out what Android phone is best for them, from source too, at a Google branded site. On the other side of the fence, Google may also be able to do some monetisation, as the gallery will feed you through to network operators and sellers where you can order your chosen Android device.
It’s still being updated to incorporate more Android phones and operators, but it’s already a massive boon for consumers, and will hopefully do a lot for the general understanding of how Android works in the marketplace, pushing sales even higher, and diffusing the confusion in the marketplace.
