Exclusive: Vodafone may not be planning to sell the Vodafone 945 Android phone in the UK, but if you want a Google blower for cheap, it should still have you covered soon: the network has revealed it plans to sell several models on Pay As You Go, as well as contract, we can reveal. “There will be a number of low end Android devices introduced on Pay As You Go”, a spokesperson told us today.

While we can’t confirm what models exactly could be sold upfront, a browse through the network’s portfolio suggests that the HTC Wildfire, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and the Vodafone 845 could all be likely candidates, sold as they are on cheaper contracts.

This is good news, as T-Mobile and Orange have been selling Android phones for Pay As You Go for a long time, and Vodafone’s insistence on making customers sign up to a two year contract for a cheap smartphone like the 845 – and previously the HTC Tattoo – has caused us to complain on more than one occasion. Stay tuned, we’ll have more for you on Vodafone’s Android PAYG plans shortly.
