Following on from assertions that the launch of Windows Phone 7 will be on 11 October, comes news that Windows Phone 7 devices will be available from 21 October, ten days after the unveiling.
The official unveiling of Windows Phone 7 will be held in New York City, and the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany will get their hands on Windows Phone 7 devices from 21 October, according to anonymous sources.
Windows Phone 7 launch handsets will be coming from HTC, Samsung and LG, with Toshiba and Dell to follow soon after. The UK launch partner is Orange, although Windows Phone 7 devices will be available on all five major UK networks.
However, there is some doubt over the 11 October date, with Engadget quoting Microsoft expert Paul Thurrot as saying that the event is not a Windows Phone 7 launch, but something else entirely. How far this goes to debunking the original assertion about the unveiling date is debatable – the 11 October date came from sources quoted as reliable and high up in Microsoft, and were reported by two sites independently of one another.
So is it or isn’t it? We’ll have to wait and see, but what do you think about the Windows Phone 7 dates? Drop us a line in the comments and let us know what you think.
