A new Sonos Wireless Dock is on the way, letting you plug your iPod or iPhone straight into your Sonos multi-room music streaming system, and chuck tunes around the house from it.

The Sonos Wireless Dock is a simple item that does exactly what it says on the tin: pop your iPod touch, classic, nano or iPhone in (No iPads, sorry folks) and you’ll be able to summon tunes stored from it from any remote and any Sonos zone in your house.

This could prove great for parties, though we can’t help but feel that given the necessity of syncing your iPod to your music library stored on a computer, anyway, it might not be any more convenient than er, using the hard drive you were already using for your Sonos set up.

Still, between this and the Spotify Sonos update, Sonos is outlining exactly why its pricey system is still worth a look as multi-room goes mass market with the likes of Apple’s AirPlay. The Sonos Wireless Dock is out at the end of October for £99.
