On Tuesday we asked you what you think the brand-less mystery device broadcast on prime time telly is. It looks like a smartphone, but has the specs of a projector. We put it to you to put your own interpretation on what you think the device is, and opinion is split.

26 per cent of you reckon that the mystery device is a portable projector, whereas another 24 per cent of you are clearly suspicious of the lack of branding, and reckon that whatever it is, it will probably not be as exciting as it’s trying to be.

Only 16 per cent of you think that the device is a phone, with almost nobody backing the O2 Cocoon theory. The rest of you posted your theories about the device, with a couple of people pointing out that the mystery device looks like a Nokia prototype, called the Kinetic, developed by a student.

Another suggestion is that it’s a new Flip camera, but to our ears, closest to the money was one user who suggests that the mystery device might be a Microvision ShowWX laser pico projector, and while it fits the criteria, the ‘m’ logo on the front does not match the Microvision logo.

It does seem to be some sort of portable projection device – this is what the specs suggest, and there’s also no specs listed in the ad that indicate that the device has any phone or web browsing functionality – 45 lumens, the strength of the light, is listed in the specs, but there’s no mention of a processor, operating system, or anything else that would indicate it’s a communications device.

The ad was uploaded to Jimmy Fallon’s YouTube page with the message that we’d find out what the device is on Thursday, which is today.

The you obviously haven't been paying attention to those of us who've already identified the unit as a Mozilla multi-media portable device with dual Microvision laser projectors built in to create a 3-D like image when projected onto certain surfaces…That is all
