The Dell Streak has a lot of fans among Electricpig readers and our Dell Streak review shows we were pretty smitten with it too. It’s good news then that a 7in Dell Streak follow-up will break cover imminently. We’ve known that Dell had a larger tablet in the works for a while as it popped up in leaked slides as the Dell Looking Glass but now Michael Dell has confirmed its existence by waving it around in public…

Dell didn’t reveal any of the specs for the 7in tablet which sports the same looks as the Dell Streak but we’ve got a good idea of what it’ll come packing.

The specs outlined for the Dell Looking Glass in the leaked presentation promise a Tegra 2 chip inside, built-in 3G, an optional TV tuner, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, accelerometer, A-GPS and a compass. We were also teased with 4GB RAM, 4GB of flash storage and an SDHC slot to bump that up to 32GB.

When we last saw the 7in Dell Streak/Dell Looking Glass it was set to run Android 2.1 but with any luck it’ll drop with Android Froyo when it launches in October. The Dell Streak Android 2.1 update has only just arrived and is waiting on the Android Froyo update we’re all really after so Dell’s got form for shipping aging incarnations of Android.

Michael Dell has form for showing off new tech just before it launches so we’ll hopefully see the larger Dell Streak/Dell Looking Glass launching for real soon. The original Dell Looking Glass leak pegged it for a November release.

Reuters snapped a picture of the Michael Dell brandishing the new device on stage which you can see at the previous link. The pic above is the earlier leaked Dell Looking Glass image.

If you’re already a fan of the Dell Streak or have been sizing it up as an alternative to the iPad, are you tempted by the prospect of a 7in Dell Looking Glass tablet?
