PlayStation Move: What to buy

Categories: Guides Extra   Tags: , ,

PlayStation Move is out today! We’ve been waiting a full 15 months for the PS3 motion control device, and now it’s out for anyone to buy in any good gaming store. But hold on a second! Even if our PlayStation Move review has convinced you to shell out for the controller, you’ll want to be sure which bundle you buy. Confused by all the PlayStation Move peripherals and deals? We’ll break them all down for you right here.

PlayStation Move is simple to set up, but does require a few bits of kit to work properly. Obviously, you’ll need a PS3, but aside from the wand you might recognise from all the coverage, you’ll need an Eye camera too. And some games!

PlayStation Move Starter Pack
£44

This is the PlayStation Move you’ll most likely need. It’s got everything you need to get started, other than a PS3, including the wand, Eye camera and a demo disc to give you a taster of the games possible. There’s only one controller though, so if you want to get some multiplayer table tennis in Sports Champions going, you’re going to need….

PlayStation Move controller
£22.49

If you’ve got a PlayStation Eye camera already, you’ll just need one of these to get started. Note that unlike with the Wii’s controls, some games let you double up and use two of these for more precise control in games in singleplayer, so even if you’re not planning on multiplayer parties, it might be worth investing in a second one.

PlayStation Move: Everything you need to know

PlayStation Move Navigation controller
£17.99

Don’t fall over yourself trying to buy this one. The PlayStation Move subsidiary controller doesn’t work with any of the launch games we’ve tried, and while we think it’ll give great control schemes to upcoming PlayStation Move games, in the way the nunchuk does for the Wii, it’s not necessary just yet.

PlayStation Move charging station
£17.99

Handy, but by no means essential: the PlayStation Move wand charges like a DualShock gamepad, through a mini USB cable, and the battery life is every bit as good. We don’t think you’ll often need to charge up two wands at the same time.

Slim PS3 and PlayStation Move model
£269.91

Now this is what we’re talking about. If you’ve yet to slap down for a PS3, this is the way to go from now on: you get everything you need for PlayStation move fun thrown in, and a huge 320GB hard drive to boot. You’ll need to wait for November for this one though sadly.

The 320GB models have bee nreleased today with the rest of move, so no mor ewaiting until November

for the move navigation controller, there is one game coming out that I believe will use it. It is called Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's quest. the move controller is the sword, and I believe the navigation controller would move you around. Might be a good game to invest in….
