The HTC Desire HD will be arriving for free on T-Mobile, on a two year, £40 per month contract. This rankles a little since Jon French, HTC Executive Director, said yesterday that we would be seeing a “maximum” of £35 per month contracts on a two year basis for the HTC Desire HD at its launch yesterday.

T-Mobile says that it cannot give any more details about the contract terms for the HTC Desire HD, such as texts, minutes and data allowance, for the £40 per month HTC Desire HD contract.

The HTC Desire HD will be available on every network in the UK, except O2, the reasoning for which we’ve been told we’ll be hearing about soon. The HTC Desire HD will also be in the hands of every retailer: Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4 U, and the rest. It will be available on T-Mobile from October, when the HTC Desire HD will be shipping.

How does this stack up? Well, it’s difficult to say without knowing what we’re going to get for that £40, so depending on the details of the contract, the HTC Desire HD comes in at £10 per month more than the HTC Desire on T-Mobile, which you can pocket for free on a £30 per month contract.

I was one of many who was drawn in by T-Mobile's predicted release date for the HTC Desire, only to be left waiting for some weeks after this date to get my hands on the phone. Now we wait for the release of an already outdated software update for Android. The network need to stop working on their custom build and give people the android software that we all want and is probably the reason people have bought previous models and will buy future models!

T-Mobile have made a bad hash of updates for Android phones – but you get Froyo out of the gate with the HTC Desire HD, which is something. I wouldn't expect Android 3.x to be an easy upgrade even on unlocked phones TBH.
