The Nintendo 3DS is pretty much the most exciting thing in gaming right and we had big expectations for the first game EA has created for the platform. So it’s we’re mildly confused to reveal that its first Nintendo 3DS game is…a gardening sim. Read on to find out why tending your virtual foliage in 3D is the new going outside…

EA revealed My Garden at the Tokyo Game Show. The title features a mystical Japanese creature called Tanuki, a Racoon/dog hybrid that could be our favourite animal mash up since Napoleon Dynamite bigged up the Liger. EA promises My Garden will feature “the beauty and complexity of the natural world”.

My Garden will make use of the 3D smarts of the Nintendo 3DS to interact with Tanuki, manage your garden and take pictures to share with other Nintendo 3DS owners.

Despite My Garden sounding like the kind of game that usually doesn’t see the light of day outside Japan, EA says it’ll be hitting the shelves at the same time as the Nintendo 3DS. Since the Nintendo 3DS release date is still yet to be announced, that means when it’ll arrive is up-in-the-air.

Check out our Nintendo 3DS hands on and let us know whether you’re gagging to grab a gardening sim. Is tending your virtual dahlias your idea of a good time?
