Nokia-E7-Nokia-World-1a

The Nokia E7, Nokia’s all-new communicator device, is here. Imagine a pumped up Nokia N8, with a jumbo screen and a slide-out keyboard, and you’ll be on the right track. Is this Nokia’s take on the tablet?

The Nokia E7 has a wide 4 inch OLED touchscreen, using the same ClearBlack Display as the new Nokia C6, and it’s just 13.6mm thick too. Inside there’s 16GB of storage, and an 8 megapixel camera.

The slide out QWERTY of the Nokia E7 makes typing on the move easier, according to Nokia. “Nothing beats a real keyboard to get your work done quickly and accurately. This is the form factor that works best for business people,” said Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President, Mobile Solutions at Nokia.

Having another dig at Apple, Vanjoki said “Some in this industry throw around the term ‘revolutionary’ with reckless abandon. The Nokia 9000 Communicator really was revolutionary. What impressed me most was the passion of those who owned it. Fans have been asking when we will introduce an heir to the thrown. The Nokia E7 is it”

Inside there’s business technology from Microsoft, with the ability to view and edit Powerpoint documents, as well as the ability to lock the device and wipe it remotely.

There’s also support for Mail for Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft Share Point Server.

More of an entertainment fan? There’s HDMI output and Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound too. The Nokia E7 will also record 720p HD video.

The E7 will ship in the “last quarter” of the year, in dark grey, silver white, green, blue and orange, for €495 or £413.
