Adobe is restarting iPhone app development after Apple announced yesterday that it would be changing its rules on third party developer tools.
The Adobe press release stated that the change on the part of Apple “has direct implications for Adobe’s Packager for iPhone, a feature in the Flash Professional CS5 authoring tool”, and meant that development of Adobe apps for Apple iOS devices could restart.
The Adobe Packager for iPhone was built to enable Flash developers to develop and deliver applications for iOS devices. Adobe said that Packager apps were already being approved for the Apple App Store. This isn’t a cure-all for Adobe on iOS though, as Flash content will still not run in browsers on Apple devices.
Adobe had planned to stop development on the tools, but after the Apple announcement, brought it back from the dead, sending stock rocketing 12 per cent in one day.
