The Nokia N8 will go on sale in the UK in the last week of September, Nokia has confirmed, without giving a more precise date. This month, it’ll be sold exclusively from Nokia’s online store (Where you can preorder now), with a Nokia N8 price of £429 SIM free and unlocked, or on contract from £35 per month from the site, and for one week, it’ll be the only way to get it.

From 1 October, the Nokia N8 will then go on sale across brick and mortar stores and online, at Carphone Warehouse, O2, Orange, Phones4u, T-Mobile, Tesco, Three Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone. That’s a pretty clean sweep, so whatever network you swear allegiance to you should be able to get it, but you can’t preorder through these chains yet, and their own Nokia N8 price tags on launch day may vary.

The Nokia N8, with a 12 megapixel camera, 3.5-inch touchscreen and the revised Symbian 3 is a huge release for Nokia, with an awful lot riding on it. The company’s last flagship smartphone, the Nokia N97, was launched more than a year ago and met with tepid reviews. Nokia even went on to label it a “tremendous disappointment“, so it’ll be looking to make amends and win back potential iPhone and Android converts.

Far too expensive, even with a 12MP camera. Especially when you consider what other manufacturers top handsets retail for (Desire, Galaxy S etc).

Will be interesting to see how the networks price this on contract, the iPhone is probably the most desirable handset out there (in the general public mind), if the price is the same, then after the shocking quality of recent handsets, will people pay the same for a Nokia?

I am not interested in this handset, i left for Android a few months back and this is not the handset to tempt old Nokia fans back. A small part of me wants to try out the Symbian 3 just to confirm that it probably is buggy as hell and a load of old kak.

Looks OK but I'll wait for the price to come down and give it a try. It would be kind of moronic not try it out before passing judgement wouldn't it?

i'm passing judgement based on previous experience with Nokia products. This phone offers nothing to excite and they only reason to take a look would be to see how Symbian will no doubt disappoint.
