It’s Nokia World next week and this year Nokia has brought its mobile conference and expo to London. Electricpig will be there to provide you with the latest news and inside info, but what can we expect to see? Here is our list of the things we think/hope will be revealed.

Nokia N9

The Nokia N9 is top of our list of things we want to see. The new, Meego-powered smartphone has had us salivating since we saw the first leaked spy shots of its curiously MacBook-like casing. Nokia badly needs a blockbuster phone to go head to head with the iPhone/Android and this could be it – a powerful new OS, solid build and bags of features plus a QWERTY keypad that actually looks usable. Just launch it, already.

Nokia N8 launch date

If the N9 marks a bold new OS direction for Nokia with Meego, the N8 proves there is still life in the Symbian OS it will be semi-replacing. Symbian^3 is the most powerful version of that OS yet and the N8 is a phone with the hardware to do it justice. Nokia’s best touchscreen to date plus standout features like HDMI out and 720p video capture make the N8 very attractive. Could we get a launch date for that now, please?

Nokia C7

The Nokia C7 took us by surprise when pics appeared online last month. The C7 is essentially a cut-down version of the N8, running the same Symbian^3 OS. Hardware-wise it is smaller, touchscreen-only and will probably be a bit cheaper than its big brother. All the same, the C7 looks like a great mid-range phone. If we manage to get our hands on one we’ll let you know what we think.

Nokia MeeGo tablet

Meego isn’t just for smartphones. The Nokia and Intel OS is ideally suited to a tablet computer and there are rumours that that is exactly what Nokia is planning. Could it beat the iPad? We have no idea, but Nokia created one of the first Internet tablet devices – the Nokia N770 – and we would love to see what it can come up with using its new OS as a base.

Nokia Booklet 3G 2

Nokia’s netbook offering, the Booklet 3G, is almost a year old now and could be due for a refresh. Will Nokia stick with Windows 7 or chance its arm with another Meego device? We would be happy with either as long as Nokia keeps the same great battery life and hot-swappable SIM card support.
