HTC may be gearing up to launch its first Windows Phone 7 device next week – the HTC HD3. As well as a spanking new operating system, the phone is rumoured to have a huge AMOLED screen and some very tasty specs. But is it too good to be true?
HTC has an event in London on 15th September that publication Smarthouse reports could see the launch of the HTC HD3 – the company’s first flagship Windows smartphone since the mighty HD2 and the first to feature Microsoft’s new mobile OS, Windows Phone 7.
The first HD2 pushed the boundaries of usable screen size with a whopping 4.3 inch LCD screen. The HTC HD3 is going to require even bigger hands with an alleged 4.5 inch AMOLED display, offering a staggering 1280×800 pixels. Behind the screen will sit a powerful 1.5 GHz dual core processor 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
An 8 megapixel camera, twin LED flash, Wi-Fi, HD video and HDMI out round off some impressive sounding reported specs. As good as the HTC HD3 sound, however, we are a going to keep a very large pinch of salt handy. It sounds like wishful thinking, and we aren’t quite sure why HTC would be able to get their hands on a 4.5 inch AMOLED screen before, say, Samsung – which actually makes them.
We’re much more inclined to bet the Android powered HTC Desire HD will be debuting in a week, but we can always dream. Either way we’ll be there, reporting live on whatever HTC has to show for itself.
