UPDATE: The Dell Streak Android 2.1 update will hit unlocked models bought through Dell, according to a spokesperson, but a date is still TBC.
The Dell Streak Android 2.1 update on O2 has finally, officially arrived. While some of you keen slate owners might have upgraded to the leaked build of Eclair a few weeks back, the network now says it’s ready for primetime and a full release, and has even offered up instructions on how to install, for anyone confused by the process.
Head on through to o2.co.uk/dellStreakupdate and you’ll find step by step instructions for upgrading your Dell Streak to Android 2.1 – they’re actually very simple, so long as you remember to back everything up that’s not on the SD card. Just switch off and on again, then download the 97.57MB file when prompted and install.
While not the upgrade to delicious Froyo we were secretly hoping for, the Dell Streak Android 2.1 update still brings some useful extra features, including pinch to zoom in Google Maps, multiple Google account support, and an improved keyboard.
