Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series 3D TV outed

UPDATE: The Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series 3D TV will be out in the UK this month for around £3,500, we’ve confirmed with the company.

The Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series 3D TV has just been outed at IFA, and as you might have guessed from the name, it’s a rather wide TV that doles out movies in stereoscopic view for you. Want one? Check out the pics here.

The Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series 3D TV builds on last year’s gorgeous 21:9 2D model by belting out 3D movies too, provided you’ve got the gear and the discs for it of course. The 1080p Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series 3D TV also packs an LED backlit screen with a 400Hz refresh rate for super smooth images, and the whole thing can be yours later this month for €3,999 (c. £3320).

What do you think? Will you be saving up for the Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series 3D TV, or are you still glued to watching Mad Men in plain old 16:9? Pipe up in the comments below!

I have waited 12 months for this 2 generation model since the introduction in august 2009. My only consern is if the front is matte like the 2009 model or reflektive. Unfortunately this TV set dosnt support full internet, despite TV is now watched more and more from the net. Why ?
If it has reflektive screen I will wait til Philips comes to their sece and make a matte model again – and put Android on, or something similar to support full internet.

Speilberg and Lucas called-for the TV Wide-Screen Ratio to be set at 21:9, when International Standardization was being sought over 15 years ago. Unfortunately, the less-impressive ratio of 16:9 was chosen.

Philips 21:9 Screens will at last show Cinemascope films in full-width.

AVATAR Blu-Ray 3D DVDs available around late December this year, will make great demo content for the 21:9 TVs!

Seems like this years 221:9 model has reflective screen and still no full internet support, even we are well into 2010 where TV over the internet is now well established at a price of 4.200 Euro for such flaws …..
