The Xbox Live price increase that’s got some Xbox 360 owners up in arms may just be the tip of the iceberg. An analyst who predicted the price hike has returned to prognostication, claiming a new Xbox Live Platinum subscription is on the cards. Is Microsoft going to add another level above Xbox Live Gold? And just what will you get for your moolah?
Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter correctly predicted this week’s Xbox Live increase though he modestly admits: “Yeah, even a broken clock is right twice a day.” Now he says Microsoft is working on Xbox Live Platinum plans which will up the ante for the subscription service.
He says the new top-of-the-line Xbox Live subscription will cost $100 in the US and could include some intriguing new enticements. He speculates that Xbox Live Platinum accounts could let you organise your iTunes library from your Xbox 360, grab extra items for games like Halo: Reach and access new TV subscription options.
Sky Player Xbox 360 integration has already hit the UK but you need to stump up more cash along with your Xbox Live Gold subscription to watch its channels. Perhaps an Xbox Live Platinum account could bundle that in.
What would Microsoft need to offer to persuade you to plump for an even more pricey Xbox Live subscription? What features would you include in an Xbox Live Platinum package?
