LG has kicked off its IFA assault by unveiling the LG Smart TV. The Internet-connected concept comes packing apps, promises to be iPad-friendly and most intriguingly ditches a traditional channel zapper in favour of the Wiimote-style Magic Motion Remote. Read on for all the details on LG’s future TV…
The LG Smart TV will arrive with an Xbox Live-esque Home Dashboard Internet portal onboard to give you access to apps and premium content (presumably services like Lovefilm). LG promises the usual range of apps from sites like YouTube but the ones on show in the press images don’t look that appealing (First Aid, anyone?).
Rather than a button-stuffed traditional remote control, the LG Smart TV comes with the Magic Motion Remote which has a single button. Point it at the screen and you’ll be able to select from a list of options.
LG’s touting a range of apps for the LG Smart TV making use of the Magic Motion Remote including a colouring book app and a yoga app. We’re also promised easier ways to hook up devices like laptops and the iPad.
Specific details on the LG Smart TV are a little thin on the ground at the moment besides the picture above of a perky spokesmodel waving the Magic Motion Remote. The LG Smart TV is due to launch in early 2011 but rest assured we’ll hunt down more details at IFA.
