Dell Streak 2.1 coming for O2 users this week

There’s a rumour surfaced that the Android 2.1 update for the Dell Streak is on its way tomorrow for O2 customers. The date being reported for the O2 Dell Streak Android 2.1 update is September 1, tomorrow. O2 are being cagey though…

We called up O2 to ask whether this was correct, but a spokesperson said she could not be more specific than to say that it would be this week, and that it would be rolling out “soon! Very soon!”.  She could not confirm the Android 2.1 update would be arriving tomorrow on your Dell Streak, but it’s possible, so watch this space!

Dell Streak users on unlocked devices got their update a couple of weeks back sourced directly from Dell. The Dell Streak update brings pinch and zoom to maps, a revamp on the camera app, and  the addition of Android’s default gallery app that links up to Picasa as well. O2 Dell Streak users will also be happy to hear that the Android 2.1 update also fixes the remote control bug.
