Canon EOS 60D official: 18 megapixel monster!

UPDATE: The first Canon EOS 60D sample HD video footage is up, and we’ve got it here. Come take a peek – it’s pretty breathtaking!

The Canon EOS 60D has been a long time in the making – its predecessor the 50D is now two years old – but it’s here now and official. We’ve got all the details on it right here, plus plenty of tasty pics for your perusal in our gallery!

Ready? The Canon EOS 60D packs an 18 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, and packs a DIGIC 4 processor under the bonnet capable of shooting up to 5.3fps, and allowing for in-camera RAW image editing.

ISO range on the Canon EOS 60D stretches from 100-6400, and is extendable to 12,800, while on the back, you’ll find a 3-inch articulating LCD screen. It’s SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card friendly, and there’s an HDMI port for hooking up to your telly.

A major addition with the Canon EOS 60D is of course HD video. Canon’s been a trailblazer in this area of the DSLR arms race, and the Canon EOS 60D offers 1080p full HD H.264 video capture at up to 30fps, and 720p at a super smooth 60fps.

Sounds good, no? The Canon EOS 60D goes on sale in October, with a body only price of £1,099.99 – you’ll be able to buy it with 18-55mm, 18-135mm, 17-55mm and 17-85mm lens kits as well.

Out October | £from 1099.99 | Canon
