Consumer electronics show IFA is due to kick off in Berlin next month and Electricpig will be there to get the latest news from the show floor. We are particularly looking forward to getting our first proper look at the Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Samsung Galaxy Tab isn’t the only Android tablet that should be putting in an appearance at the IFA though. Here is our pick of the five we would most like to see.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7

Early indicators are that this is a cheap and cheerful tablet, but it is slated to come with 3G, wifi, Bluetooth and SD card support as well as front and rear cameras. If ViewSonic can pull off those features even at the low end then this could be a bargain worth picking up and at 7 inches, it might be the ideal budget counterpart to the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Archos Internet Tablets

Archos is bringing not one, but five Android tablets along to IFA. These range from an iPad-sized 10 incher to a 2.8 inch tablet that, frankly, is probably stretching the definition of ‘tablet’ a little. Archos is famed for its media players and we expect to see good support for movie and audio formats across the Archos range – just like the Samsung Galaxy tab should have.

MSI Windpad 110

MSI is bringing two tablets along. The WindPad 100 runs Windows 7 but it is the Android-packing WindPad 110 that concerns us here. The prototype was reportedly a bit on the slow side but MSI has had a few months to sort things out so we hope to see good things from this budget pad. We just wish it didn’t sound like something you would buy to sort out a bout of flatulence. Samsung Galaxy Tab sounds a lot more manly. Grr.

LG Optimus

LG is another manufacturer turning up with a barrowload of devices. The Optimus range is said to comprise both smartphones and tablets and will include “Android Tablet PCs”. Whether this means wildly different models like the Archos collection or just remixes of one basic model (offering 3G, wifi, etc. or different storage options) remains to be seen.

HTC Google Chrome OS Tablet

OK, so this one isn’t actually an Android tablet. Chrome OS is related to Android, though and it will be interesting to see if Google has made the right choice in having two different operating systems and which will prove the more compelling tablet experience.
