The Toshiba Smart Pad tablet prototype was shown off down under by Toshiba’s Mark Whittard just over a month ago, but now we’ve got what looks like some bona fide images of the device, with hints at an Android OS, but no confirmation.

The Toshiba Smart Pad tablet is super slender, with sleek design and four touch buttons along one side and an LED battery indicator. Back in July, indications were that we could expect the device before October, and that it would have HDMI and USB connectivity.

Word on the ground is that this is another (Android according to Notebook Italia) tablet to add to the pile that’ll be flaunted at IFA next week, hopefully with a launch date within the month.

What we don’t know yet is the OS the Toshiba tablet will be running on – back in July Whittard said it might be Windows 7, or it might be Android, Toshiba hadn’t decided – but it’s a sure fire bet we’ll know by next week.

What would you rather, a Toshiba tablet running on Android, or on Windows 7? Let us know!

The looks seem kinda bland but hopefully a video of the tablet in action can leak soon so we can see what it can do.
