Facebook Chat integration has hit Windows Live Messenger as part of the latest Windows Live Essentials 11 beta. The bundle also includes Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Sync but it’s the Facebook Chat smarts that have got us most interested. Read on to find out how to fold your Facebook chats in with your Windows Live Messenger IMs…
Windows Live added limited Facebook integration a while back but the latest update brings Facebook Chat along for the ride. Once you’ve connected Windows Live Messenger to Facebook, your Facebook Chat contacts show up like all your other IM buddies.
You’ll see Facebook Chat users online statuses in your contacts list and can chat with them in the same way as other Windows Live Messenger contacts.
As well as the Facebook Chat integration in Windows Live Messenger, the Windows Live Essentials 11 beta 2 update includes features like the ability to fling videos straight to Flickr from Windows Movie Maker and send larger video uploads to SkyDrive.
The Facebook Chat feature in Windows Live Messenger is being rolled out slowly to avoid crushing its servers but it should be hitting UK chats today (along with the France, the US, Germany, Russia and Brazil). PC users can grab the Windows Live Essentials beta update from the handy link below.
