Nokia Box viral hints at new phone next week

Nokia has been causing a bit of a stir in the media and online lately, sending out mysterious packages to bloggers and hinting at something big going down on the 18th. So what on earth is inside this #NokiaBox?

Head on through to Twitter and you might just see that Nokia’s been distributing strange parcels to bloggers across the globe, using the company’s instantly recognisable font and branding. As you can see in the video below, these Nokia boxes contain a USB key and an invite to an event going on around the globe on the 18th of August – that’s next Wednesday, folks.

Not only that, but Nokia’s taken its viral marketing to another level by leaving cryptic messages to those invited in the personal section of newspapers in India and the US.

Just what Nokia is planning is unclear, but the very fact that it requires smoke and mirrors like this NokiaBox stunt has us a tad worried. The Nokia N8 is high profile enough in its own right – so what does that leave? That supposed Nokia C9 slider? Yet another low end touchscreen?
