We saw the HTC Desire HD pop up in a few blurry spyshots yesterday, but now someone with a decent camcorder and a steady hand has managed to get a hold of the massive Android mobile ahead of release too. Read on to see the Froyo phone up close!

If there was any doubt over the veracity of yesterday’s HTC Desire HD leak, we think this new HD video of the phone’s hardware clears it away. This is a HTC prototype through and through, from the HTC Evo 4G-esque front face to the speaker grille on the top, and the HTC HD2 style back panel and 3.5mm audio port placed on the bottom.

247Android, which published the early HTC Desire HD hands on video, says the phone runs Android 2.2 Froyo and is codenamed the HTC Ace – which aligns with previous reports of an upcoming Android smartphone from the company. While we can’t be certain, we think the HTC Desire HD is very likely destined for the UK and Europe, as HTC’s similarly sized 4.3-inch Evo 4G has been a storming success in the US.

And quite frankly, we’re already sold. If this HTC Desire HD keeps these looks, adds Sense and the latest version of Android, we can’t see what could possible go wrong. Save perhaps the battery life.

What do you think? Could the HTC Desire HD topple the Samsung Galaxy S from its place on top of the Android pile? Shout up in the comments below and have your say!

If all the specs that we've heard so far are true, (there's a list on 247android.com) this will be the best android phone ever, and could even be the first true contender with the Iphone.

I'm not sure it'll necessarily be any better than the Evo 4G (Which now has 2.2 also, and a front facing camera to boot). But that'll still make it epic, and I'm glad HTC is finally (hopefully) releasing an Android version of its 4.3-inch form factor in the UK. Really though, it should have done this a year ago instead of the HD2.

The HTC Desire is still top of the android pile because the Samsung Galaxy S does not have flash. Thats a deal breaker for me. With android 2.2 that'll get rid of the Samsungs edge on video shooting too.

Have you noticed on the video how there is a pixellated area on the top front of the phone? the person showing the phone also seems to be very hesitant to show the area that is pixellated out too? could that be a front facing camera and if it is, why would they blur that area?
