52 per cent of readers said yes, they wanted a Nintendo 3DS, unquestionably, and there was no concern in respondents for the fact that most of you haven’t seen or experienced the 3DS yet. The impossibility of getting a feel for the device before its release hadn’t put any of you off, and you seem to have faith in the myriad positive reports and reviews circulating.
24 per cent of readers said that whether you bought a Nintendo 3DS would depend on whether you could scrape together the pennies, and if it was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, it’ll be the other side of British summer until we get a price point for the 3DS – September 29 is that date we’re looking at now.
Very few of you said you would prefer to spend your hard earned cash on Kinect or Move, just under four per cent of respondents. A clutch of Apple fanboys showed up, and said that since it wasn’t made by Apple, they weren’t interested in Nintendo’s 3DS, but these too represented just under four per cent of respondents.
Most interestingly, when combined with the biggest proportion of responses, only 12 per cent of you said you would be waiting to see how the Nintendo 3DS performs out in the wild before you shell out. Given that this is a new technology, and there are still tweaks to be made and a learning process for many developers to go through, the reaction to the 3DS is overwhelmingly positive.
