The HTC Desire Froyo update was set to start yesterday according to a tweet from HTC Benelux marketing man Mark Moons. But there’s no evidence that it’s started yet. HTC Germany has thrown the cat amongst the Android pigeons by suggesting we may have to wait until Q4 while HTC global PR and community manager Eric Lim is still saying it’ll arrive within days. So just who’s got it right?
AndroidPit Germany gave HTC a call and was told the HTC Desire Froyo update is on the way but not so imminent: “We are close to a release date. A real software upgrade will not release in the next one or two weeks. We are target for delivery in Q4.”
Meanwhile though Eric Lim told PocketLint yesterday that we will see the HTC Desire Froyo update arriving within days: “We expect to begin rolling out this update very soon, possibly as early as tomorrow but some things still need to be checked before we can confirm a specific day.”
With the “tomorrow” from Lim’s quote now yesterday, if his quote is on the money we should hopefully see signs of Android 2.2 Froyo headed for the HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire pretty sharpish. Two Electricpig readers (Dave Smith and Qambutt) both claim to have the HTC Desire Froyo update already but we’ve yet to see any hard evidence to back up their claims.
If you’ve had the HTC Desire Froyo update pushed to your phone, send us as screen shot or a snap of your phone. In the meantime, we’ll be badgering HTC for more news.
