A tasty Android 2.2. Froyo update looks set to arrive on the HTC Wildfire and HTC Desire imminently. The news comes courtesy of some rather international sources with HTC Benelux tweeting that the HTC Desire is about to make the jump while news of shipments of it and HTC Wildfire landing with Android 2.2 Froyo installed have reached us from China.  Looks like the wait for a UK HTC Android Froyo update will soon to be over…

HTC Benelux director Mark Moons tweeted last night that HTC Desire owners in that region can expect the Android 2.2 Froyo update to arrive today. A quick trip to Google Translate reveals he said: “We start tomorrow with the upgrades to 2.2 for Android desire, later more devices…”

Listings showing the HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire with Android 2.2 Froyo preloaded headed for China have also been uncovered with HTC sources confirming that they’re legit. That’s good news at it means HTC has sorted HTC Sense compatibility with Android 2.2.

Previous statements from HTC suggested we’d see Android Froyo updates for the HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire before Christmas but it looks like they could be arriving even sooner.

We’ll keep a eye out for more news on the HTC Android 2.2 Froyo overhaul but if you’ve got the HTC Wildfire or HTC Desire and suddenly see an OTA update appear, let us know!

    I have just got an update for OS 2.2, 16:17 GMT, i am not near a wi-fi hotspot and do not want to use alot of bandwith so it'll have to wait till im home..

      What network are you on, I have an unlocked Desire on o2 and I have not got any sign of an update…even checked manually

    Dave hope your not bull$4!** us mate. I'm on 3 and I guess that would be a locked phone and don't have the update either. Anyone else got an update or is that only for unbranded phones. I know its only for maybe a selected few but at least we will get an update sometime in August. Then for most of us we will have the perfect phone.

      Yes it would help if people who been able to download the update were saying:
      1. where they are from
      2. locked or unlocked phone
      3. carrier if locked

    2.2 is meant to be out this weekend sometime even T-Mobile as told my friend it will be this weekend or this coming week. This is for the desire I not sure about the Wildfire just yet.

          Oh balls, i downloaded an OTE on my wildfire in the UK last week but it's not 2.2…. Software Info still showing 2.1 but the software number changed to 125.405.1……

          Any ideas??

            Is your Wildfire unlocked? If not, it's probably the network you're on rolling out an incremental bug update, which may make no front end changes. The Wildfire has been promised Froyo, but I'd expect HTC to make some serious noise about it before it does eventually roll out.
