windows phone 7The Windows Phone 7 hardware line up has been confirmed. HTC, Dell, LG, Asus and Samsung will all be sporting Windows Phone 7 at launch, which leaves us to ask: who’s missing?

Dates for Windows Phone 7 launch are elusive, with the only information being that nothing will be happening until after the summer, in the autumn. In terms of this line up, Asus are a new addition, and LG look to be releasing a device called the LG Pacific.

HTC is rumoured to have a string of devices waiting in the wings, christened with some rather dubious names. There’s the Mozart, Mondrian and Gold, which sound like tasteful, classy devices. But there’s also three Windows Phone 7 handset names leaked: the Salsa, Swing and Tango. Hopefully though, these are just codenames, and devices will be renamed for launch.

The device we played with earlier in the week was a slightly bulky Samsung, called the Taylor, although Greg Sullivan, senior product manager for Microsoft, was keen to point out that this was only a prototype, and was not slated for release at all.

Missing from the list of Windows Phone 7 hardware manufacturers are Acer and Toshiba, both of whom have a string of Windows Mobile devices, although the list that’s been confirmed is by no means comprehensive.

Which of these Windows Phone 7 devices are you most excited about? Who will you be keeping your ear to the ground for?
