Did you see our Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini review last month? We were in two minds about the phone – it is nice and compact and if anything a bit too powerful for the intended market, but we preferred the keypad on the more expensive Pro version. Still, if you fancy giving the Xperia X10 Mini a whirl, you could do worse that check out our Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini review: Ultimate buyer’s guide.

Best for early adopters
If you want a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini but either want to keep an existing contract or pick up a cheap SIM-only or PAYG deal, the X10 Mini is available to buy unlocked. The ever-reliable Expansys sell it for £249 but we have found another online retailer – the self-explanatory Unlocked Mobiles – who are offering the phone SIM-free for just £209.
Best for data hogs
If all you really want is data, with perhaps a few minutes for quick chats and the odd text, we have found a great 18-month deal via Mobiles.co.uk - 100 Minutes, 100 texts and unlimited browsing on T-Mobile for £20/month with the first 9 months half price. You do need to jump through a couple of hoops to get the cashback on this one, however.
If you fancy something more straightforward, BuyMobilePhones will do a 24-month T-Mobile deal with 300 Minutes, unlimited web and 300 texts for a flat £20 month.
Best for chatterboxes
If you like to talk – and we mean really go on – then 3 are offering the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini for £30 a month which will get you 1GB of data, 5000 texts and a whopping 2000 minutes of talk time. This is for a 24 month deal, though, so you must be sure you will still want the X10 Mini in two years time.
If 18 months is more your style, this O2 deal via Secure Mobiles is pricey at £60/month but will give you unlimited texts and talk plus 1GB internet. Cheaper but still chat-tastic is BuyMobilePhones‘£37.50 for 1200 minutes, and unlimited texts.
Best overall deal
We reckon the best mix of chat, text and web is probably BuyMobilePhones £20/month deal – but do watch that 2-year lock in. If that is unacceptable to you, go with Mobiles.co.uk and plump for their cashback alternative over 18 months instead.
