Attention StarCraft fans! You can download StarCraft II TODAY! (small voice: but you can’t actually play it until a week on Tuesday)
From today, if you buy the digital version of StarCraft II directly from Blizzard you will be able to instantly download it to your PC. You won’t actually be able to play it – or even install it until the game is officially released on 27th July, however.
Still, unless you plan to smuggle yourself into the stock room of your local games shop, this is probably the best way to ensure that you can start playing the sci-fi sequel as soon as humanly possible. At exactly midnight on the 27th your download will become active and you can install it and get playing – the only limit at that point is how fast your hard drive can spin.
The other thing to note is that.. well, lets just say we expect Battle.net to be quite busy when the game launches. Downloading in advance is probably a good idea if you want to avoid the inevitable bottleneck and all the heartbreak and gnashing of teeth that will surely follow.
Even better, the download is completely free – you only have to pay when the game goes live.
Out July 27th | £30 | Blizzard (via MTV Multiplayer)
