firefox app The Firefox Home app has been (perhaps unexpectedly?) approved by Apple’s app store. It offers some really attractive syncing capabilities, and looks to provide a welcome addition for Firefox users to their iPhone or iPod touch.

The app gives you access to your Firefox desktop history, as well as bookmarks and open tabs. How does it do that? “Firefox Home uses your browser data, securely synced from Firefox on your desktop to the cloud”.

It’s an offshoot project from a Mozilla project called Weave, which has morphed into Firefox Home. The Weave project explored how to access a personalised browser through different computer and device portals, without sacrificing privacy.

This is the result, a Firefox browser that can pick up all your important (or badly organised) bookmarks from your computer at home, and sync it with your iPhone or iPod touch. Word has it that Google are building similar syncing capabilities into Chrome as well. To use it, you’ll need Firefox sync installed as an add on to Firefox 4 at home.
