The iPhone 4 jailbreak is getting nearer to release. iPhone Dev Team member, Planetbeing has revealed an iPhone 4 soft carrier unlock. That’s allowed him to get a US iPhone 4 locked to AT&T running on the Canadian network Rogers. For folk in the UK with the option of getting an unlocked iPhone 4 from Apple, that alone isn’t incredibly exciting. However, he’s also got Cydia app store up and running meaning he’s also managed to jailbreak his phone. Read on for the latest iPhone 4 jailbreak update…

Planetbeing has demonstrated his unlocked iPhone 4 in action in a YouTube clip (which has since become inaccessible thanks to Google server trouble). It’s still quite tricky to achieve and he says an iPhone 4 jailbreak solution isn’t yet ready for public consumption.

Over on his Twitter feed, Planetbeing’s iPhone Dev Team compatriot, MuscleNerd confirmed that the group has uncovered three ways to unlock the iPhone 4 but they need to streamline their approach before the iPhone 4 jailbreak can emerge.

As we wrote yesterday, it’s likely that any iPhone 4 jailbreak solution they do cook up will be kept under wraps until Apple pushes out the iOS 4.1 update. But as Planetbeing’s unlocked iPhone 4 shows the iPhone 4 jailbreak is eminently possible, the wait should soon be over despite Apple’s iPhone 4 anti-tampering code.
