While Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 was trailed with a video clip featuring a seriously sickly Joker back in December last year, news on the Gotham-based follow up has been pretty ever since. Now Warner Bros has snapped up a series of web domains that seem to reveal it’s ideas for new names which could be slapped on the sequel and some plot pointers too. Swing through for a look at the list…
From the tidbits that have leaked out about Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 so far we know that as well as the return of the Joker, the cast of villains will also feature The Penguin, Mr Freeze, Talia Al Ghul and Two-Face. We’re also promised an appearance from The Riddler. With the game due to be set outside Arkham Asylum, a new name is on the cards.
From the new list of Warner Bros .com domains, Arkhamcity, BatmanArkhamCity, BatmanBrokenground, BatmanNewArkham, BatmanGrandDelusion, BatmanRiseofArkham, BatManSiegeOfGotham and BatmanStateOfVillainy all have the potential to be Batman: Arkham Asylum 2’s final name.
Another clutch of Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 domain registrations give some clues about the plot and point to a potential viral marketing campaign to join the current ArkhamHasMoved website.
There seem to be three Batman Arkham Asylum 2 campaign sites (CityOfArkham, CloseArkhamCity and PeopleForGotham) as well as the intriguing StopMayorSharp.com. In the original Batman: Arkham Asylum, Warden Quincy Sharp was running for mayor of Gotham and it seems he wins. The final domain on Warner’s list is equally intriguing – WheresBruceWayne.com.
There’s no guarantee that Warner Bros will use all of the domains it’s snapped up but the selection gives a good idea of the direction Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 is headed in. Though an October Arkham Aslyum 2 release date was seemingly leaked a while back, current rumours suggest we’ll have to wait until 2011.
