Apple has recalled a bunch of Time Capsules after a blight that surfaced around September last year, which took down the device at around the 18 month mark, with no chance of a refund, being as it was just outside warranty. If the length of time it’s taken Apple to recall the faulty Time Capsules is anything to go by, it doesn’t look like that signal problem on your iPhone 4 is going away any time soon.
Apple has finally recalled the low life expectancy Time Capsules after more than nine months of consistently reported problems. The trouble that consistently affected owners was the devices shutting down after startup, and kicking the bucket after 18 months.
Time Capsules recalled are those with serial numbers between XX807XXXXXX and XX814XXXXXX, sold between February and June 2008. Data on old Time Capsules can be transferred to new ones, and refunds may be available to those who paid to replace blighted machines.
If it’s taken nine months and a seventy page thread on the forums to get Apple to recall the far lower selling Time Capsules, it’s highly unlikely that a product recall for troublesome signal on the iPhone 4 will ever be issued.
