The Samsung Galaxy S2 (aka the Samsung Galaxy i9200) is reputedly the planned follow-up to the rather stunning Samsung Galaxy S. Who says? Russian rumourmongers. They’re touting the shot you can see on the right and a rather tasty set of specs as proof that they know all about the Samsung Galaxy S2. But it sounds a little bit like a mobile phone fan’s fantasy phone to us. Head through to play gadget detective: is this really the Samsung Galaxy S2?
Unwired View claims “Russian Internets” sites have been passing round a picture of the Samsung Galaxy S2 along with specs that make it sound like a giant leap from the Samsung Galaxy S. We’re promised an even bigger Super AMOLED screen (4.3in at 1280×720 resolution), 32GB of built-in memory with support for 32GB via microSD and an 8MP camera with full HD video skills to boot.
The fantastical Samsung Galaxy S2 specs list gets even more enticing with talk of A-GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n and 1GB RAM. We’re also told to expect an iPhone 4-style accelerometer and gyroscope package. And with the whispers predicting the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be coming our way in early 2011, it’ll be packing Android 3.0 too.
Russian mobile phone watchers have been on the money when it comes to Samsung rumours in the past – they recently spotted the Samsung Epic 4G (aka Samsung Galaxy S Pro) ahead of time – but we’re very dubious this time. That specs list seems a little too good to be true and the Samsung Galaxy S2 picture is essentially a nondescript black box.
What do you think? Is the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S2 specs list plausible? Would it tempt you to snap one up? And if if you’re not willing to wait until next year for a mysterious phone, make sure you check out our Samsung Galaxy S review and Samsung Galaxy S ultimate buyer’s guide now.
