Last week, we asked you if you used FaceTime, or if, outside of the safety of a Cupertino tech utopia, we’re all just a bit too reserved to be emoting with our mobile phones in the middle of the street. The answer though, surprised us. It was a little hesitant, but it was a definite yes for FaceTime. Read on for the full results…

Just under 20 per cent were not buying into FaceTime. Less than 7 per cent of you said that you’d tried FaceTime and found it a bit odd so wouldn’t be doing it again, while 12 per cent said you’d never used it and you didn’t intend to.

However, 22 per cent had been sucked in by the magic, and 24 per cent of you said you use it in the safety of your own home. That adds up to almost half of you saying you used FaceTime, if a little cautiously.

20 per cent of you said they had a phone with video calling, but not an iPhone 4, and had never used it. 15 per cent were refreshingly cynical, and said that “video calling is for losers”.

The overall outcome is that while there’s still a healthy proportion of people not using FaceTime, on top of those who haven’t got an iPhone 4, there’s a bigger number of you using FaceTime, and hesitantly getting along with it, compared to those without an iPhone 4 who’d never used the video calling on their device. So, it’s beginning to look like Apple have done it again with FaceTime, reinventing failed functions that already exist to great success.
