With the city at panic stations, renegade gang The Cell and the zombie-like Freaks running amok anything less than a global war-worthy inventory of weapons and wheels would leave you a goner. Luckily, Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian Games has heeded the call to arms with lots of new weapons and vehicles to play with.

UV Shotgun
One of the most fun of the new weapons in Crackdown 2. The UV Shotgun is an energy-fuelled firearm that shoots electromagnetic charges at enemies to send them flying. It’s most useful when surrounded by enemies, particularly when surrounded by Freaks, as players will find in missions where protecting a bomb from being sabotaged by the Crackdown 2 mutants is imperative to survival. It might only be restricted to short range attacks but its still devastating.

Mag Grenades
This innovative grenade forms a sticky bond onto objects for maximum Crackdown carnage. Throw one bomb, then throw another to make it form a sticky bungee-like cord to objects. Then trigger it to unleash a powerful explosion. It’s best used for throwing onto enemy vehicles or experimenting by attaching them to the ends of adjacent buildings. In the right hands, the possibilities are endless.

Wingsuit
As if jumping off vertigo inducing buildings isn’t enough, the Wingsuit lets you nosedive out of helicopters before gliding through the air and dropping on enemies like Batman. If ever there’s one moment in Crackdown 2 where you feel like a superhero, this is it, and it’s far more enjoyable than Ezio’s brief trip on Da Vinci’s flying contraption in Assassin’s Creed 2.

Turreted Minigun
If you spot one of these, chances are there’s plenty of enemies about, or about to spring out. It fires out non-stop rounds of bullet-shaped butt whooping on your enemies.

Rocket Launcher
Besides the Agency Helicopter, the Rocket Launcher is Crackdown 2′s most addictive and destructive weapon, letting you fire multiple rockets in quick succession. It’s especially useful in multiplayer deathmatch as you bound off buildings in explosive fashion.

Agency Helicopter
Pacific City is a big place. Getting into one of these lets you see the whole world of Crackdown 2 from an even loftier perspective. It’s by far the best way to travel in style. It fires rockets too – hop into one of these in multiplayer and it’s all over.

The Agency Buggy
This speedy plaything is nippy, has great handling and is handy for honing your drive-by skills when surrounded by The Cell.

The Supercar
Many of Pacific City’s cars are bumbling pieces of scrap. The Supercar isn’t one of them. It has quick acceleration, smooth handling and Ferrari-like looks. Automobile vanity aside its best feature is being able to scoop vehicles into the air just by driving into them. Traffic jams, pah!
