The Puma Phone with its solar-panel charging smarts and sporting features is finally coming to the UK. It’s hitting the Puma Online Store this month with tie-ups with mobile operators following in the next few weeks. Want a reminder of the slightly mad feature set packed into the Puma Phone? Head on through to remind yourself…
The Puma Phone comes with a 2.8in screen which Puma says you can use one handed. There’s a built-in GPS tracker, pedometer and stopwatch so the Puma Phone can track your sporting endeavours, time them and store your routes.
There’s a 3.2MP snapper with LED flash crammed into the Puma Phone as well as a compass, geotagging smarts and a 3D accelerometer giving it gyroscope-style skills. The phone will also grab the latest sports news from Puma World.
A VGA camera has also been slipped into the Puma Phone for video calls as well as Bluetooth, an MP3 player and an FM radio.
The back of the Puma Phone is dominated by a solar panel so it can store up juice on the go. Puma says one hours of sunlight will give you an extra one hour of talk time which seems very efficient.
Even if you don’t leave the Puma Phone basking in the sun, the makers promise a single charge will give you 5 hours of talktime, 350 hours of standby and up to 140 minutes of video calls.
We’ve chased Puma for further details on when the Puma Phone will be available. UK network announcements are promised within the next few weeks but you’ll be able to grab the phone unlocked for €399 from the Puma Store imminently. Look out for our full review soon.
