We’ve spotted an ultra-cheap HD media player on the way from Packard Bell. The Packard Bell Studio HD might look like something from Kubrick’s 2001, but it’s a 1TB hard drive for £199, which looks to us like a pretty good deal, with all the required connections and codecs.
Packard Bell says it will be bringing out a 500GB model of the Studio HD later on in the year as well, which will be even cheaper than the 1TB model. It looks pretty slick too, a compact, glossy, black cuboid that looks more than a little extra terrestrial.
Sockets include a HDMI socket, digital optical and analog connectors. Get one, and it comes with a Wi-Fi USB dongle to stream content to your TV from other parts and other computers in the house. 1TB carries over 100 films, or 20 Blu-Rays.
