Skype is now looking like the sensible one by holding its iOS4 update back, after problems with apps crashing on yesterday’s iOS4 release, despite getting a slagging on its blog for taking a few days to double check their iOS4 app update.

Skype were hit with some unhappy commenters yesterday for holding back their app to weed out the inevitable glitches from iOS4. Comments threatened to switch VoIP, and one pointed out: “Last time Skype said “soon,” it was when they talked about the 3G version of the Skype iPhone app, which came out three months after the “soon” press release.”

Skype were unable to comment, but Peter Parkes, Skype’s blogger in chief, said yesterday: “we have an app which we’re testing internally. We just don’t want to release it to the public until we’ve had an opportunity to put it through our full testing cycle”.

And while with the app problems we’ve seen today and yesterday, this now looks like a sensible option, slowing down might not be the best idea either, after the announcement of FaceTime.

Skype has been adorning its app with extra features like video call for all iPhones, after Jobs announced FaceTime for the iPhone 4, and has been rumoured to be open to the idea of making its software compatible with FaceTime, but, if they’re going to work slowly again, there’s a risk that FaceTime will catch on, before Skype’s had chance to catch up.

Hey that's really not nice or fair just becuase Skype are being sensible and want to wait to see just how well it all works befire it mucks up thier app. Anyway iPhone4 users don't even need Skype now do they they have Facetime and as they only speak to other members of their clan what's the problem?
