Google has picked Glastonbury as the subject for its first UK ad campaign. The spot sees a host of Google services including Google Translate, Google Voice Search and Google Maps Navigation put to use by the most unprepared festivalgoer we’ve come across in ages. He’s also frustratingly lucky in love. Read on for the Google Glastonbury ad and to tell us what festival tech you’re packing this summer…

The Google Glastonbury ad follows the similarly lovey-dovey Parisian Love ad the search giant ran during the Super Bowl. As in that ad the entire story is told through Google searches and using other Google services.

The switch from searching for One Person Tents at the start of the Google Glastonbury ad to Two Person Tents after our hero meets a Spanish girl at the festival is sweet but the lanes he trudges down using Google Streetview are suspiciously empty and he gets a surprisingly good signal.

The Google Glastonbury ad will be the first of a new series of spots set in Britain which will appear on Facebook, VideoEgg and Youtube as well as in Google Search ads.

Watching the Google Glastonbury ad made us wonder what tech you’ll be taking to festivals this summer. Do you dare tout your new iPhone 4? Or will you be switching to something a little more rugged before you brave the mud? Hit the comments to recommend your favourite festival gadgets.
