The Toshiba Libretto W100 has just been unveiled, and it’s one out there machine. Ever wished you could just replace your netbook’s keyboard with another touchscreen? Now you can!

While the fresh off the factory line Toshiba AC100 uses an ARM processor to keep things skinny, the Toshiba Libretto W100 uses an Intel Pentium U5400 processor. The result: a slightly thicker (30.7mm) clamshell, but one that runs Windows 7 Home Premium on two 7-inch screens: you can have apps open in both, or use one as an on screen keyboard.

Under the bonnet of the tiny (202mm long) Toshiba Libretto W100, you’ll find specs that put the Sony VAIO P to shame: there’s 62GB of solid state storage, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, N-standard Wi-Fi, optional 3G, a USB port, a micro SD slot and a one megapixel webcam, although all this comes at the compromise of battery life: Toshiba is quoting 3.5 hours of runtime away from the mains.

We’re more than a little bit intrigued by the Toshiba Libretto W100, especially since the demise of Microsoft’s Courier tablet. We’ll be able to find out just how using an on screen keyboard in Windows works out when it goes on sale later this Summer, but if you just can’t wait that long, don’t worry: we’ve got a hands on for you right now.
